Bio

AMBIENT COWBOY is the brainchild of San Francisco Guitarist John Ray Judge, a well known artist in both the Bay Area Jazz and Americana scenes. AC seamlessly blends these two genres, Jazz and Americana, infusing and intertwining essential elements of both.

The musical core of Ambient Cowboy consists of John Judge (guitars), Rob McCloskey (bass) and Ken Owen (drums/percussion). John fronted the revered SF Bay Area Americana group, The Muddy Roses and was long time guitarist for the Bay Area jazz group, Echo Beach. Along with these endeavors, John has worked as a sideman for countless Bay Area Americana artists.

Rob McCloskey is well known in the Bay Area Americana scene and has played bass with The Muddy Roses, Valerie Jay, The Westerlies and so many  other Bay Area artists.

Ken Owen has been the go to drummer for the very best of the Bay Area Americana scene for the past couple of decades.

As a live music experience, Ambient Cowboy  performs in multiple configurations including as a Trio (guitar, bass, drums), as a Quartet (guitar, bass. drums, keyboards), a Quintet adding steel guitar to the quartet format or as a sex/septet adding horn players, as the event requires.

Compositions are primarily instrumental, but Ambient Cowboy will  add a guest vocalist to perform select numbers from time to time.
